Quality has slipped
You might like this hat unless you owned an old Columbia duck hat, manufactured some years ago. I liked my old one and although this has the same "duck" name, it isn't the same hat, and the quality is not that of their former product. The brim is too wide, which makes it unnecessarily large and "floppy," although the brim contains some kind of foam to stiffen it and make it float. The top part of the hat is made of an extremely thin material as compared to the old ones. The photo used by the manufacturer on its website (not the Amazon photo) gives a deceptive appearance of the weight of the fabric on top. The sewed gromets are so small as to be useless as vents. And the "one size" is really a maximum of about a 7-3/8. The hat is a little tight for someone with a 7-1/2 head, except I think the headband inside will stretch with wear. If you have a small head, the shockcord tightening mechanism would probably work, but if you take a 7-3/8 to 7-1/2 size, then it's a useless annoyance that is better cut off to have it out of the way. I had my last duck hat for over 10 years and I sincerely doubt this one will go that far. But my main observation is that the brim is way too large.
Really Great Product
Really light weight and comfortable. I was very concerned about the "one size" but it works great.
